suspension, sway bar or mouont

Post by jhoffmanjr1968 »

just had the new rims and tires put on the car today. it's running 205/45/16's on it. it's a 79 with 2l block/1800 redone head, performance cams, 34 adf carb, 4-2-1 header.
wanted to give work done--power is no problem. what seems to be the problem is I'm getting a bit of sway it seems when shifting.
there is not a rear sway bar installed. neighbor suggested looking at mounts
any ideas

check the bushings in the rear bars, sounds like at least one is bad

Ive been considering doin the 1800 head myself. Was it ported, and do you feel it was a good move? How do you like the cams, and how is the idle and low end torque??? 8)

3 angle on the head, 40-80 cam, new valves (didn't get the oversize).....the machine shop said he couldn't do it. also got the high rev valve springs.
the short.........absolutly amazing compared to before. got rid of all the emissions. I was able to put a header on it.........That cost a little bit more than I was expecting. ended up replacing exhaust with the fuel injected exhaust all the way back...except for the test pipe from Bruce's to replace the converter.
I ended up putting a 34adf on it.. I have a dual carb set with manifold sitting on my shelf. purchased it off of ebay a while back. it's the solex carbs. I would live to put them on but I have a great running car now...hate to make it a not so great running car if I screw up the carburetion. I might try in the next week or so getting a video of the car running on the road. if so I will post on you tube,, keep you posted.
