Innocent brake line question

Post by Divers »

I was looking on IAP website and they sell new brake lines for ~120 bucks with the flares installed (picture). Has anyone gone this route? Also, does this include ALL the lines. Suppose I could just ask them, but this forum is better :D

It does include all the brake lines. I purchased the same kit and replaced all lines except the ones on the rear axel because they were fine. As you do this read up on the methods used to bend the tube. Even a small kink in the lines can obstruct pressure. I had a small kink in the line leading to the rear compensator and could not figure it out for some time. The kit is good, a little expensive. I found the lines easy to manipulate. If your engine is out it is a pop fly. If you engine is in take your time and measure twice before considering a bend. in particular, the line that runs from the master cylinder down the transmission tunnel requires some planning. It is best to measure and feed the line with the top section down through the engine bay. I used a piece of old aluminum tubing and bent the top section to match the bends the brake line would have in the engine compartment. Then i bent the brake line to match in advance of feeding the line down the trans tunnel and through the cross members. By doing this i only had to tweak the brake lines to be snug in the right places rather than attempt good bends around multiple parts in tight spaces.
