Good price for top? any experience?
I think it worked very well. I am not experienced with conv. tops, so it is likely partially my inexperience, but the top seems to be very tight and was hard to fit over the front bow properly, and also hard to get the flaps at the doors down far enough to rivet. Overall fit isn't perfect, but is very very good, especially for the price.
I too went for cheap as priority #1. You guys went up in price, so I bought from http://www.convertibletopguys.com It came out to about $180 with shipping for the standard black top. I will update on the fit & finnish when I get it installed.
I bought my top from Topsonline. It's in Van Nuys or Panorama City, and it was about $175 with shipping. It sucks. It's too small. I adjusted my frame down/smaller in every way it's adjustable, and it's still super tight. All of the glued/sealed inside seams came unglued in a matter of days. I complained to the company, but they didn't care and said "no returns on installed tops."
It's been on there over a year. Still looks new (from the outside), but still too small. My winshield frame flexes when I fasten the latches. f I had to do it over, I'd buy a top from anyone EXCEPT Topsonline.
Also, 3 days after installing it, my juvenile delinquent neighbor cut a 7" L-shaped slit in it to break into my unlocked, nothing-to-steal car. Perhaps he wanted the 1985 Kenwood casette player? I was able to patch it with some baseball stitching, silicone sealant and iron-on patches (on the underside).
Now I leave the wing windows cracked open when I park. If someone wants to get in, I don't want them to cut my top again.
