broken (or torn) interior door handle/armreat

Post by joseph »

My driver armrest/doorhandle pulls away from the doorcard when I shut the door, and it appears that the mounting bolt near the center of the armrest, just below where you place your hand to grip it, is either missing altogether or torn from the moulded piece and remains in the sheet metal of the door ( I dont see it).
Is there a good fix for this, or do I have to start looking for another armrest?

A used armrest is easy and cheap to come by, compare how much labor involved to fix the problem, maybe you can figure out which way you want to go...

remove the armrest pulg the hole on the face side deep enuff for the head of the screw
"id try to make the plug deep as orignal"
fill the back side with epoxie-wait 24 hour then drill a new hole
remount it
