ItalianCarFest ’07 - Thanks for the Support
Dear Fellow Enthusiast,
Well, we just celebrated our 5th Anniversary of ItalianCarFest – and what an incredible five years it has been! We would not have been able to get this far without the support of the FIAT community. For that we are sincerely grateful.
One of our goals has always been to give to charity and to increase that amount each year. We expect our contributions in ’07 to be equal to our first four years combined, which will equate to $20,000 awarded to charity. This is very satisfying to us and we are proud of that accomplishment. And again, that could not have been done without your participation!
Surprisingly, this year’s event was difficult to organize. With less than two months to go, the lake was at 20 feet above normal which dictated an entirely new site. That was our first challenge. A second and third were the cancellation of the track day and unexpected changes in sponsors. And, although having record success in drawing out of state entrants and the thrill of hosting the final round of the BSCruisuccour overall number of entrants did not grow as anticipated.
While we had a great 5th Anniversary and have the formula that would continue to build ICF weekend, we took pause to evaluate the continuation of ICF after this year. A number of meetings were held to discuss its future, with the result being that on October 16, the Italian Car Club of the Southwest voted to retire ItalianCarFest, after a successful five year run.
Our club is not retiring from car shows; we are just shifting our focus to smaller, more intimate shows that are manageable by the club and not affected by external matters. We are also directing our attention to other club activities appealing to a broader audience and involving more members.
Again, thank you for your support. It was terrific!
Sincerely,
