shockingly seized shock!

So, after relacing my leaky fuel hard line saturday I got around to also replacing my rear shocks. They were a lot easier to do than I had anticipated (hurray for twin posts!), thankfully. The ride had been getting more and more stiff, almost like crappy coilovers that had been dumped. I suspected the LF shock had seized because there was ZERO give back there. Sure enough, the valve must have jammed or something because the LR shock wouldn't compress or rebound. I haven't run into this in forever. Just thought I'd share.

I haven't had a chance to drive it yet (still on the lift at work) but just jouncing the car it feels WAY better.

Forgot to update. The car drives 100% better with the new KYB's back there! Amazing how good it feels when the shocks are actually working. I should've cut a coil off the spring when I had them out with the plasma cutter though. Poor Spider has almost the same rake my Nova did in high school.

Oh yeah, I saved the old shocks. I think they were the orginals that came with the car in '79. They're brown and all the writing on them is in Italian.

the kybs will add height. you can bring it down an 1" by using hydraulic shocks.
