Central Virginia Drive, Photo Session, and Dinner Theatre

Post by 4babycar »

It has been a long time since my last post but I wanted to make sure that all of my Fiat friends are invited on our next get together. Below is a brief summary description with more information to come. For those of you not familiar with the area the start of the Drive will be here ( Colleen Drive In, 4105 Thomas Nelson Highway, Arrington, VA 22922 ) which is located on 29S in Nelson County. Please pass the word along and I hope some of you can come. The invitation has also been extended to the local British car club too so feel free to include other makes/models as well.

Hold the date for Sunday July 10th for another BRIM drive! I am planning another drive for that Sunday afternoon starting in Nelson county along 29 and ending up at Sweet Briar College. This will be a leisurely scenic drive and should last about an hour. I am trying to arrange a photographer to tag along and get some good pictures of us on the drive and hopefully some artistic shots of our cars on the Sweet Briar campus. You will be able to either purchase CDs of the pictures or possibly order prints directly from the photographer. After the photography session, we will be attending the Endstation Theatre company presentation of Twelfth night, performed outside, tickets $15. Plan on bringing folding chairs or blanket and a picnic dinner for the show (You can also order boxed meals through the website, if you don't want to pack your own) and as an added benifit, Rebec Vinyards will be on-site with wine available. For those of you that don't know about Endstation please check out their website. They have been recognized in the Washington Post, many other regional and national publication and has received numerous awards and recognitions for their creative and immersive performances.

I will have an update on the exact route, times, etc. once I can drive the route, confirm the photographer, etc. I just wanted to make sure you all saved the date and hopefully plan on attending. If you have any questions or suggestions, please email me anytime.

Hello Michael, welcome back!

If you can plan this a little further in advance next time, I'm sure some of us from the DC area would like to attend. We'll even put it on our Events page.

Thanks for the welcome and sorry for the short notice. I has been a hectic year and this is kind of a last minute item, as I didn't think we were going to be able to pull it off to be honest. I will try to do better next year!

Thanks,
Michael

Ok, the drive is set and the photographer is in so we are on for the 10th!

We will meet at the Colleen Drive In (Colleen Drive In, 4105 Thomas Nelson Highway, Arrington, VA 22922) which many of you will recognize as the big ice-cream cone on 29S near Nelson County High School, at 4:00 for a 4:15 departure. The drive will be in the roads surrounding the less mountainous side of 29, ending at Sweet Briar College for the show and it took me almost exactly an hour to complete. With that we should be on campus around 5:15-5:30 where we will try to find a scenic place or two to get some good shots of us and our cars before the show which starts at 7pm. Derrick Helm, our photographer for the event will be offering both CDs of the photos and individual prints to order. The price for CDs will be $25 and prints will vary by size but an 8x10 on metallic or professional paper from a lab in Florida will be $15 and 11x14, matted framed and signed for $70. Regarding the show, tickets are $15 and can be ordered on-line prior to the event (subject to a processing fee) or at the entrance to the show as well. Don't forget the sunscreen, bugspray, relaxing and hydrating beverages of your choice, and your picnic!

Please RSVP to me, Michael Staton (statonmc@hotmail.com) by COB 7/7 so I can have an accurate head count for Derrick and myself.

Finally, in addition to our Italian Motorcars group, I have also extended the invitation to the local British car club so look forward to a few new faces and don't be surprised to see a few MGs and Triumphs when you pull up!

Hey,

I am from Richmond, Va. Is there a Virginia Fiat Club? Or is this the only forum for something like that.

Thanks

Yes there is a Virginia club for Italian car enthusiasts! Please send me an email and I can give you the details. The club splits its time between Charlottesville and Lynchburg. There are few people in and around Richmond and it would be great to have you join us.

Thanks,
Michael
