junk in the trunk

hey guys when i first got my car it had 7 dents ,in the rear quarters
they were all outward dents.caused by (most likly tools)slamin around while driving like you stole it
So when i redid the carpet(from menards),i cut inside panels to soften any impact.
so that when i get on her,shes ok back there also im thinking of hardboard panels.like the
spare tire cover and gas tank.

i seem to be replacing the carpet around every 4 years or so

Make sure your jack and toolbox are secured with the rubber straps in their proper place too. I've seen plenty of Spiders with wooden boards in the quarter panels to keep them from being dinged.

ummm, don't forget to watch your tire inflation when flinging it around turns! managed to pop the tire right off the rim once...(oops)

Where does your tool kit live ? Mine has the grey plastic box which I keep wrapped in an old towel next to the jack.
Jack is in it's mount in RH wheelarch, with rubber strap, but not sure where they designed as home for tool kit ?

The tool kit goes in the left wheelhouse area. Look in there and you'll see the tabs to secure the rubber straps.

When I bought my 1980 the tool kit was in the spair tire wheel

I think the newer cars had a tool pouch instead of the hard plastic box and it was located in a different place so the newer ones may very well have been in the spare tire area.

Hi,

Was there ever a protective panel for the driver's side trunk? I have some sporting equipment that might do some damage to the fuel filler and vent lines that seem designed to protect that fender from damage...
