Looking 4 a beta
Looking 4 a beta, needs to be local
Re: Looking 4 a beta
I have been looking for a beta since I sold my coupe back in 1992. Then all of the bad memories come flooding back and snap me back to reality. If you cannot find a Beta just get an Alfa 164, basically the same car and needs just as much attention.
Really I'm big fan of Betas still I start daydreaming. Such a sweet handling car.

That x behind that scorp looks just like mine. Actually Im just looking for a beta to further a project of mine. Body condition is not important. Thanx for the info guys.
Re: Looking 4 a beta
I owned a Zagato and a Beta years ago both handled very well but when it comes to working under the hood
in the engine compartment forget it no room and the electrical issues are vast ! you'll never have them completely
sorted for good . I know of a Beta for Sale but he wants good money for it comes with dual carbs a rebuilt engine
is in very good condition but has a few corners with rust bubbles the color is silver this guy has owned the car
for many years low miles just sits in a car port most of the time .

Re: Looking 4 a beta
Working on it I never minded as everything was in one spot.Engine, trans, driveshafts etc... 1/4 drive sockets were a godsend. I just hated replacing the same things over and over again.
Re: Looking 4 a beta
my beta was cursed ! lol broke down on me more then any car has in my life .
Re: Looking 4 a beta
which Beta variant are you looking for? If you're looking for a Coupé or Zagato, I'd definitely recommend an FI car, 1981-82. And I'd recommend avoiding a 1979.spiderrey wrote:Looking 4 a beta, needs to be local

Thanx 4 the info FulviaHF, Havent seen you in quite a while. Im assuming a coupe would be cheaper.
Re: Looking 4 a beta
Actually I had a 79 Beta Coupe. Stupid easy to modify without the FI headaches. Assuming you can find an 1800 intake manifold, Beta manifolds are at a different angle than the spider 1800 intake manifolds. Also a header does wonders. BetaBoys in England still has some parts.

Re: Looking 4 a beta
I think Mark makes a manifold that will work on it.
Re: Looking 4 a beta
A Coupé will definitely be cheaper, and personally I prefer the look; I've had 3 of them: '75. '79, & ''81. Trouble is, it's much harder to find a Coupé; most of them have evaporated, even though they're built as well as or better than the Zagato, which always seem to be available. One reason is that the 2000 FI Coupé is 1981 only; only the Zagato was sold in 1982.spiderrey wrote:Thanx 4 the info FulviaHF, Havent seen you in quite a while. Im assuming a coupe would be cheaper.
The first US Coupés, '75 - '78 are worth considering; they have an 1800, and the interior has a distinctly earlier feel--a lot more character than the later face-lifted 2000. There were no cars in MY 1980, so the only other 2000 is the 1979, which has a number of transitional features it doesn't share with any other year. As I said, I had one--they're probably more common than the 1981--and it's entirely possible to make them go perfectly well, but if you get stuck with a deferred-maintenance car, as mine was, when something goes wrong it's a worse nightmare than any other year. I could mostly keep it on the road well enough to use it as my daily driver (in the mid-'90s). You can modify the engine as well as the Fiat version of the twincam, and engine access is better with the carb'd cars, as the FI plenum takes up a lot of real estate. But I quickly replaced the '79 with an '81 which was a lot quicker right out of the box, and had far better drivability with the Bosch L-Jet. That said, I certainly wouldn't turn away a good 1979, if no 1981 turned up; if mine had been better I'm not sure I would have bothered to replaced it.
Oh, and I had a '74 X, too; bought it new...

This one was for sale in Federal Way, Washington back in March. She lowered the price from $8500 to $6500 but I don't know if it ever sold.

Zippy,
That's a '75 or '76, and I'm afraid the seller was dreaming even at $6500; if it sold for half of that, the seller made out very well. But that's the early interior I was talking about.
Early cars can be found:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 7254760551
(the current bids will give you some perspectice about that $8500 original asking price...)
But here's a site mash: http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?c ... ++++go++++
and you can see there are a dozen Beta Zagatos available; everything up to 1982.
