Probably a bracket? IAP had one in the catalog which is back ordered. Just wondering if other folks have mounted the plate in this location and if there is another place to source a bracket or another way to do it...?

What I have done and what I should do.

I have used zip ties in the four holes and around the bumpers. I've run a spider for years that way with no issue. Well, it does not look good.

I have opened up the circular holes on the plate to be more oval like a race track and used hose clamps around the chrome bumper and through the plate. looks better than the zip ties.

I have attached a black plactic brakcet to the front of the bumper using the same hose clamps from above.

I've looked at the Jeep front license plate and decided they cost too much.

I should just buy one from IAP.... I just cant see spending that kind of money ($44.95) on a front plate holder that requires me to drill holes in the bumper or someplace else on the front of the car to attach.

Hose clamps it is for now!

What does that IAP plate connect to? I can make you all that plate holder for $25. I'll paint it black too.

I bought a pair of these brackets at Pep Boys (~$15 each) to mount my fog lights, but I didn't like them on the bumper and chose to mount them in the grille. I was repackaging the brackets to return when I thought of using them to mount my front plate.

Very simple, quick bolt-on, no drilling and it hides the pitting on the lower tube! :)

I thought that plate holder was to use for cars without bumpers. I see now it goes on the bumpers.

Yeah, I had 5 holes in my bumper pad ... 2 from the stock holder and three I put in to try to mount the plate without the holder. I got some Bondo flexible bumper repair goop, filled the holes, sanded and painted. It looked so good I'm going to sand and paint the other pads. The PO had something on them that is now peeling.

Very nice solution, thanks!

1) I don't have access to my car: Can those brackets be used to the left or the right of the center area? I'm thinking of left mounted rear fog/rain light.

2) Nice fog lights setup, do you have a picture that shows them off instead?
  • What brand and size?
    How'd you wire them in?
    Where'd you put the switch?
Thanks,
Mark

I just did this, thanks for the tip Lynn!

And I think it'll be just fine for my red rear-mounted fog light.

Works a treat, done in a jiffy.

Pics tonight.

Ciao,
Mark
