Re: Wind Deflector
Yes, I will agree on the better packaging needed; my box was all banged up from the multiple handling but the inside was ok. They should have put the box in another box so I will let them know of this problem. The screen material is a little more fragile than the IAP one but should be ok if I am careful; the frame and stitched vinyl covering are exactly as the IAP one.

Did you order the normal "rectangular" one or one of the spiffy "V" or "R" shapes? Also, could you share the dimensions Racelandus gave you?
Thanks!

Re: Wind Deflector
Lynn, I ordered the rectangular one. The dimensions are 13.5" high and 39.25" long on the bottom from threaded stud end to threaded stud end. Preliminary fitting indicates installing closer to the headrests will allow tilting down (when desired) to avoid hitting the rear window.

I got mine from Brady Jones, not sure if he is still making them. http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/memberlis ... ile&u=5827.
Quality is very good and it really works.

Re: Wind Deflector
That looks like it sits up too high...especially in the second photo.
Re: Wind Deflector
In photos it looks high but in reality it looks perfect. It does an amazing job of cutting down the wind turbulence. Since Jersey is all highways its perfect for around here. For local driving I take it off .

Re: Wind Deflector
I've got Brady's roll bar mounted one. It blends into the roll bar very well and is a much more durable mesh than the Raceland ones.

Re: Wind Deflector
I completed my installation of my Windblokker and it works perfectly; makes a big difference on the highway as the one on my Alfa. I have not figured out how to load up some pictures so if anyone interested please email me at whhopson@southernco.com. Also I have some bracket details; brackets bent on a vise. Brackets made with similar dimensions will allow the screen to fold back without hitting the rear window with the top up. You will also need to install some short strips of plastic molding on the contact areas on the side rear vinyl cover and the top frame; the molding is available from auto body/marine supply shops and J. C. Whitney. I will be sending details to Raceland so they may start making their own brackets.

Re: Wind Deflector
I have revised my Windblokker installation to include the 2" brackets suppled with the Racelandus.com Miata screen. This allows custom adjustment to be closer to the headrest and higher to eliminate the minor rear visibility blockage which previously existed. Also since your frame mounting bolts may not be at the same height, as mine were not, this will allow some adjustment to have the screen level (with the windshield as a reference). Email me at whhopson@southernco.com for some pictures of this revised installation.

Re: Wind Deflector
I just finished installing one of Raceland's windscreens - a Windblocker V Style for Miata. For $39, you can't beat it. (Thanks, Warren!) I had a prototype of a headrest-retained one a friend made years ago and it was too short to be really effective plus I got tired of having to have the seats reclined at the same angle and having to remove the headrests every time I wanted it off. I liked Warren's installation method, but I live in SoCal, and the top is hardly ever up - I'd have to cut a slit in my boot to accommodate the bracket if I wanted it on at the same time as the windscreen.
I had already removed the rear seat back and put my rear speakers in boxes sitting on the rear seat, so I decided to follow Foster48x's plans for a rear deck replacing the seat and a single speaker box to fit both of my 6X9s. I was in a yacht surplus store when I saw a used 6' chrome handrail for $10. It had studs at the ends and looked perfect to mount the Windblocker brackets. I cut it in half, drilled holes in the deck, added some used marine hardware to hold the poles straight, attached the windscreen and here's the result.

It flips up and down with ease, no cuts to boot, speakers sound great, the pole-and-screen assembly can be pulled out and stowed in the trunk and most important ... my wife's hair no longer blows into her face.
Click on the above Flickr link for more construction photos in the Windblocker set.
Many thanks to Foster48x for his great set of plans and again to Warren for his tips and finding this bargain.

FYI: Headrest mounted wind deflectors can be two separate units.

Sorry, Dantye - gotta say I like Brady's version better. Less bulky.
