Removing Front Bumper
Removing Front Bumper
Recently picked up a 79 and the right front bumper shock is compressed. I would like to just remove the bumper completely and know that people do this often, but can't seem to find any type of tutorial or write up on what needs to be removed to do it. If anyone could post or refer me it would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Re: Removing Front Bumper
Look under the car, on the inside of the fender well along the frame and you'll see one bolt that passes through the rectangular tube that holds the bumper shock in place. Remove the bolt and slide the shock out. If you still want front turn signals, you'll need to relocate them and that's where the work comes in.

Re: Removing Front Bumper
Yep. What he said. Only one bolt for each shock. The only difficult one is the rear driver where you need to raise the tank up just a hair to get the bolt out.
