Spider engine swap?
Spider engine swap?
I have a 1977 Fiat Spider 1.8 and would like to know if I should swap my 1.8 to a 2.0. I am going to rebuild my engine and would like to know with engine would be best. Also any sugestions on with heads to use on the engine for best performance.
Re: Spider engine swap?
If it is a minor rebuild and you have a 2.0 block, then yes put your 1.8 head onto that. It will give you a little bump in compression, but not a ton just somewhere between .2:1 - .5:1 depending on machine work. But, if you don't have a free/cheap 2.0 block then just stick to you 1.8 system. I've driven a 1.8 with the 2.0 fuel injection on it, and wow what an amazing difference. The revviness of the 1.8 over the 2.0 makes it REALLY accelerate fast with fuel injection.
