What Color Code is this?

Post by LStevens »

Just had my Spider painted  It was SUPPOSE to be code 312, but I believe it's some other color code :x
In the photos below you can see how different the colors are. The original color is a much darker shade of green. The color the car is now is more like "British Racing Green".

My Spider is a '74 and the color code on the firewall placard is 312

So, does anyone know what color code this New Paint Job might be?

Here's another photo showing the paint a bit darker

Here's what color the car was before paint

Here's a pic when the body was being worked on

Mike Eganq's Spider is the correct color code (312) as it matches my before pics

don't know but i looks kinda good, agree not the same as it was prevoiusly but looks like a nice job. One of 3 things,
1. the green that was on prevoiusly may have not been the 'original' colour? (like I had on my car, the silver was different to the plaque that was in my boot, therefore I chose a common silver at the time)
2. The original green has had some sun fade changing the colour
3. the mix to the number might be little off? (<--I think it could be this one??)

That's all I can come up, it is always hard to tell from pics? others???
Cheers David

So, how exactly do you get a car painted and not know what color it's going to be??? Why didn't they just color match the original color on the car?

The car was re-painted once before by the previous owner because of some body damage. Just to ensure the newly painted color would be the exact color to its original, rather than mix the paint, the shop ordered the paint via the color code. The color previously on the car did match the color code. Apparently the vendor got the color code wrong. Yes, I should have had the shop paint a small piece before painting the entire car... that's hind sight and a suggestion to any others getting their cars painted. I'll talk with the shop today and see what they say -
