New Tie Rod End stuck, can't unthread?

Post by Fiat88 »

One of the tie rod ends on on a new complete outer tie rod assembly I just bought will not turn for me to adjust it. Any tips to get it unstuck. Thanks.

I presume you have loosened the clamp on the sleeve? Are you turning it in the correct direction? ( I know stupid question, I am just assuming you are somewhat like me...)

Or are you having trouble loosening the nut on the end of the ball joint? If that is the issue, you need to use a set of welding vice grips to hold the joint into the steering arm.

It's the part that threads into the sleeve and I even removed the clamp but it won't turn. I'm trying to adjust it to match my old ones.

Is this installed on the car?

It's new right? It wouldn't be rusted together then.

Yup its new. They are the FRAP brand ones, not sure but the packaging looks like it may be new old stock. Maybe if I had a vice I could unscrew it easier.
