Steering Idler function, up and down movement?
Steering Idler function, up and down movement?
Is the steering idler arm suppose to be able to go up and down? Its the bearing type. Just want to make sure thats how it works and that its not damaged. Tell me some good news!

I don't think so. I never took one apart, but I think there is a big nut on top that would pull the shaft up and load the bearings. Try exploring, take it apart and see how it works. Maybe just tightening it will work, or a washer under the nut to take up the play. It could be the bearings too. You'll know when you get it apart.

There's a castle lock nut with a cotter pin on top, a few months ago removed the nut to see if it had a fill hole, until I was told I had a bearing type. So maybe I didn't tighten it enough. Will check it out tomorrow.manoa matt wrote:I don't think so. I never took one apart, but I think there is a big nut on top that would pull the shaft up and load the bearings.
