Steering Idler
Steering Idler
I'm looking to get one of my steering idlers replaced and was browsing the IAP website. Would anybody know if the steering idlers for the 1985 Spider are different than those of an 1984?

Re: Steering Idler
What year is your car?
1985 and late 1984 versions had rack and pinion steering and do not an idler.
Early 1984, and earlier versions had a steering box and idler that were linked via a center linkage with fixed tie rod ends . There are three different types of idler. Oil filled, and two types of idlers with simple bearings, one has a splined pitman arm shaft, another has a smooth pitman arm shaft.

my car is a 1985 automatic. Will the steering idler on IAP match up to the one in my car?

Re: Steering Idler
Yes, the 1984 steering idler is the same as on the 1985.
Early 1985 Spiders were not "1985.5" and had the steering box and idler like the earlier Spiders.
