Dash

I want to replace the dash for my 1979 and I want
to know if one out of a 1974 will fit.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

I think you will find a instrumentation difference as well as different idiot lights. the instruments do require a slightly different cut out. the 74 should have 6 gages where the 79 will have 5 (no oil pressure gage). These are arranged differently. if possible, get a pix of the new dash and take a close look. also take a close look at the idiot lights as they maybe located differently on the 2 dashes. nothing that cant be overcomed.

that dash is a 6 gauge

Yes, the dash will fit, but as mentioned the dash wood is different, but you can change that over as well.

how do u keep a good dash from cracking?

Good question. The dash is nothing more than foam with a cover. What about a layer of fiberglass cloth and resin, to stiffen this up?
