Loose shift boot

Post by DocGraphics »

So when I bought my car the vinyl shift lever boot was just kinda hanging out in the general area of the shifter hole.
How is the bottom of the boot suppose to fasten to the wooden console insert?
I don't see anywhere to fasten anything to the bottom of the insert.

Here's what it looks like on the bottom

It's the metal ring around the boot that is squeeze around the hole.

Has anyone got a pic of it & how it mounts

Here's a picture of it at Csaba and Ramzi's store;

I'm sure other vendors have it also.
I don't have a picture of how it mounts, but basically you just work from the under side of the console insert and clip the ring over the the boot and the lip of the cutout. You'll want a little of the boot to be past the ring so that it protudes past the cutout, this will keep it from slipping back out.
