Squeeky Springs

Post by donerehart »

My front springs are pretty squeeky... What could be the cause of such a thing? Is this normal? Thanks again for your help!

check your control arm bushings as well as your upper spring pads in the front...in the rear check upper and lower spring pads...maybe shock mounts too front and rear...just a thought..

BTW this is not normal for there to be squeaking...

Make sure it's not you ball joints, especially the lower ones or you could have a wild ride!

The cure for the squeaky front end, after you eliminate worn or faulty components, is silicone grease. Here is a previous post http://fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=12399

I did this over a year ago and I am still squeak free. Well the car is anyway

silicone grease is an absolute necessity when using polyurethane bushings cause they really squeak bad without it...

I've had great results with the Dupont teflon sprays. It soaks in and leaves a waxy/teflon flim after the solvents evaporate. But this is for common squeeks and sticking window/door hardware. If you have a bushing or ball joint going south then it's time to break out the tools. I've heard a shock squeek/whine before too.

Funny comment on the bed... I got the car jacked up today and got under there. All my bushings are new and everything appears to be in good shape. How in the world do you get the grease on the rubber? How have you applied the silicone grease? Thanks for your input!

Finally figured this out. All my bushings and joints were replaced over the winter and the squeeks have been driving me crazy. Thanks to your posts I lubed the nylon/plastic bushings with silicone grease and wala...no more squeeking. Thanks team for your great help!!!
