Shift knob for Michigan short shifter....?

Post by kensmith »

I would like to find a new shifter knob for my Michigan short shifter. I currently cut down my wooden knob to fit but I really would like something with a better fit and look. Any pics or information where I can buy something cool? Thanks :D

Just my opinion, but I don't think anything looks as good as the original black ball.

Do you have access to a small bandsaw? I've found a few chunks of wood(dry)Yew and juniper and roughed out the shape and then rasp/file/sanded a shape. I then have drilled the hole in the bottom and used the insides from a tatty old original wood knob and screwed that onto the short shifter. Before drilling though I screwed a small picture eye screw in the bottom and then used that to dip a bunch of times into some gloss verithane. Light sand 500-1000 grit between coats and I think it turned out ok. Let it dry upright.

JUst wondering.. What is the issue with the knob. Does a larger one create interference with the upper console?
