boot hook location

I have bought a used top boot & hooks but one of the PO filled over the holes to mount the hooks.
I can find the holes underneath but can't redrill them from that side.

Can someone tell me the measurements of their hooks to like the trunk & like the body seam for location with possibly a pic?

Heres what I have going on.



Marks are my best guess but would hate to drill in the wrong spot & have the boot too loose or the loops not reach.

The rearmost part of the hooks (the tapered, pointed end that faces the back of the car) measure 4" forward of the edge of the trunk opening and 4" inward from the seam between the rear valance and the rear fender on ours.

Kevin1, thanks thats what I needed.

I could feel/see the old holes from inside the trunk but couldn't get a drill in there or get exact measurements to anything to match to the outside of the car

Update:
I used the measurements I got from Kevin1 & got the new holes EXACTLY where the old ones were, THANK YOU.
I drilled thru from the top side thru the bondo & new paint & they came out thru the old holes in the metal on the underside.

Got the used boot & hooks I got from George cleaned up & it mounted great!

Heres a few pics:

hooks mounted, cut gaskets from a waterproof outlet cover to use under them.


boot all cleaned mounted, still need to fix a snap on the drivers side & one of the hooks on the inside.



Now I need to figure out how to make it go around the roll bar nicely & find the straps for the top that go underneath.

i notice that mine dont use a strap. i got a hole on each side of the car and there is a hook on my boot in which i pull down and attach the hook in the eye of the hole, i got a 69.
i thought i need straps so i bought them, maybe i am doing it wrong?



i dont think a roll bar and luggage rack go together

I agree w/ the roll bar & rack situation, plans are to remove the rack, eventually.

Also debating if the roll bar would look better painted gloss black, what do you guys think?

It appears your luggage rack was sprayed silver, maybe paint the roll bar the same color. Someone had theirs chromed, it looks awesome, but I'd be worried about the glare and optical distraction when you look in the rear view.

Yea I had thought of that too, but with all the other gold accents I don't know about silver.
Also thought of painting the rack satin black to match the roll bar, or take it back to the chrome that is underneath the silver paint.
It probably has some bad spots in the chrome, but I was thinking if I polished up those areas & painted it all with clear it might look OK.
Then again I like the look without one!
