Shock travel question

Ok, I posted some suspension questions and maybe I am barking up the wrong tree. I have KYB GR-2 shocks on the front and I think the same on the rear. My question is how much should the travel be when pushing down on the bumper corner ends? Mine seem to be very soft and I can easily push them down about 2-3". If I go to my other cars, I'm lucky to move them 1". Is this shocks or springs I need? I think the springs are original but the car sits high so I don't think they are bad. My concern is the shocks are weak? Is there a way to check this out? 1978 Spider, all stock. Also, I did the bounce test and while all the corners are soft, the car comes back in 1 bounce. Confused......
