This is my 76. Not that great of shape right now, but you get the idea with the color.
This is the color when I bought it and I think its original - hasn't been painted.

IAP catalog number 48 (fall 2010) has an early spider flat hood in a nice pumpkin orange on the cover. And on page 6 there is one with an orange stripe partially under a car cover but you can still see the color. Well done both of them.

Ron's car is a beaut. It won "Best of" at IAP open house last year. I can get his paint code info from him on Sunday if you wish.

Re: orange 124 pics ?
Doesn't he mean the lighter orange from the late 60s? The Dino Spider was also painted this colour. I would look for paint codes from '68 or so.

[edit] Seems the colour continued on into the early 70s as well.

Re: orange 124 pics ?
I don't know the color code for the color on the one above, its more of a ochre versus an orange. A friend of mine had an 850 Sport Coupe in that color, which is period and appropriate, but it isn't really an orange.
The following are all the real "orange" most people associate with orange on a Spider. I apologize as I don't know the color code for the orange.

Re: orange 124 pics ?
my 70 was red that faded to a nice red/orange in the first year. Rocker panels did stay the original red. was interesting the the red MGs of that time faded to pink.

This car looks like the Positano Yellow that my 69 sport coupe sported. PPG No. 81762 Fiat No. 208 positano yellow fiat 1969 - 1975, 1972Redline wrote:Doesn't he mean the lighter orange from the late 60s? The Dino Spider was also painted this colour. I would look for paint codes from '68 or so.

Re: orange 124 pics ?
Ron's spider is a 1972. If he's at our drive tomorrow, I'll ask him the particulars. As you've seen, "orange" can lean towards yellow or red. In New Jersey, they even call this color "arnge" and have named a town after it

Sorry for the faded photo; I'm afraid I have faded a bit, too.

Re: orange 124 pics ?
Here's the most eye popping orange color available to Fiat in my humble opinion. This pic doesn't give the color justice:
1972 124 Spider (Don)
1971 124 Spider (Juan)
1986 Bertone X19 (Blue)
1978 124 Spider Lemons racer
1974 X19 SCCA racer (Paul)
2012 500 Prima Edizione #19 (Mini Rossa)
Ever changing count of parts cars....It's a disease!

Re: orange 124 pics ?
The 1969 mustard yellow one above is mine. Actually it belongs to my 85 year old dad who purchased it new in 1968. The paint is original - at least the front half is. The color is 208 Positano Yellow. This was a very popular color in the late 60's and early 70's and it can be seen on Alfas, Pintos, Vegas, Broncos, Capris, 240Zs, Porsches and probably more from that era. To me it's THE signature color of the car since it was only available during the car's infancy from 1966 to 1970. Of all of the cars that were available in that color it's my opinion that Fiat got the shading best. Maybe it's my imagination, but I think the paint quality of the 124 Spiders is better than other Fiats available at the time. I have seen many other (non 124) Fiats in this color as you can see on Danny's FUN Fiat site. The others don't seem to have the depth that the 124 Spiders have.
