Hi, Yep, still searching. Is there somone local in Florence SC that can take a quick look at a car for me? I spotted one on Fleabay and there isn't enough detail pics to ease my mind and wallet. Alot of these sellers just tap dance around any questions you ask and say "look at the pics". It's an EFI with AC car, looks ok from the pics but it has fresh paint which always makes me wonder about rust and damage hiding under it. Was told AC did work but went out(leaking orings?). Anyway, can someone local give it a quick look over for issues, rust damage, anything not right, and give me their opinion?
The seller is "big A auto sales"
1216N Cashua Dr. Florence SC.

Thanks, Whiterabbit

Re: Guru near florence S.C.? Look at a car for me?
Hello Whiterabbit, Jefferson Airplane fan?
After years of looking at ebay ads it is apparent to me that dealers avoid specific comments about the condition of older collectors cars they list. Views about car dealers aside, you can't blame them. They don't want their written words regarding the condition of a 30+ year old car to come back and haunt them.
Why they'd get involved in selling an old Fiat is a mystery to me in the first place. They don't know anything about them, and given our Spiders meager retail values there is hardly much room for any kind of mark up.
But who knows. In any case, if the Fiat you want is being sold by a dealer you really need to do your due diligence (I'm in NJ so can't help). I saw from your prior posts you want a Turbo A/C which sure is an unusual package so if you have your heart set on that I'm thinking you need to take a trip to Florence.
Hey its only about 175 miles. Your cool Enfield will have you there in no time.
Good Luck, and keep us posted.
Oh, and BTW, did you see the ebay Turbo in Twin Lakes WI?
Getting a car shipped these days is pretty painless. I got mine cross country from LA for $825 or so.
Good Luck, and keep us posted.

Yea, big fan of Jefferson Airplane and CCR here.
It's amazing with these new digital hightech cameras that anyone can take an out of focus, dim, shaky pic. Hmmm.
I'm honestly looking for one between mid 60's through 1985 with low(ish) miles and not a money pit/rust bucket. Is that too much to ask?
Guess if I leave today I might get there by Monday on the Enfield,if it doesn't break down. I guess I'm going to get a map and mark Spiders for sale on it and make a big loop to check 'em in the truck. I'm in the military so I guess a few recon missions prior to deploying the wallet is wise. Don't want to walk into an ambush!

I searched for mine for about 8 months and traveled to 5 or six states looking at them.
Did all the right things, then bought one off pictures on ebay, sight unseen, 3000 miles away.
Got lucky. She's a beauty without a spec of rust.
Like that music too.
