To clarify all the Dawn pro and con posts, there IS a time to use dishwashing detergent. It's when you want to strip all the old wax and protectants off to start fresh with your wax. There are thousands of websites about waxing, but basically for me it boils down to this. If it has been a while since the last time I waxed the car, I want to start with the cleanest, smoothest paint surface I can. That's when I give the car a good thorough wash with Dawn or similar. Then I clay. Dry completely, including using compressed air to blow out the water around trim. Then wax or polish. I'll usually do three coats of the Liquid Glass. That's where the Liquid Glass is a little bit of a PITA to use. The instructions for LG say to "cure" between coats by letting the car sit in bright sunshine for 3 hours or so to kind of "bake" the finish.

Autoglym polish, sealant and glass polish are indeed the best I've found...and I've been detailing cars for many years.
However I use Maquiars #16 paste wax between Autoglym polish and then Autoglym sealant.

Sorry for the late reply, my wife and I were in the Caribbean for the last 3 weeks. We also went to the Barrett-Jackson in West Palm Beach. Quite the spectacle of cars.
Anyways, absolutely welcome visitors to Victoria. Our door is always open (if we're home).
Cheers,
Jim
