You might want to go to an automotive paint store that has some old books. They should have samples of the colors. Your paint code should be stamped on an aluminum plate on the passenger side engine firewall.

I would be interested in finding an accurate chart too, to reference the original color of my 1978.
My paint code is 797 on the plate in the engine bay on the passenger side firewall.

It has been repainted burgundy, which I assumed is original color as everywhere matches that wasn't painted flat black by PO (havn't pulled carpet to look in there though), but I seen on a chart somewhere (no idea now where I seen it) that 797 in 1978 was dark brown.

OK, just partly answered my own question,
Just cleaned off the vin# stamped into the cowl just above that plate & It is painted dark brown there, must have been the one spot he didn't paint flat black.

My paint code was in the Glasurit/BASF paint book. Glasurit is showing 797 is Marrone Scuro or dark brown. There is no online color chip to look at and the PPG page doesn't show the number.

Thanks Denise for the verification on the stock color, thought that was what I seen somewhere.

I really like the burgundy thats on it now & don't plan to ever change back, but good to know.
