Please go to the link above and, once there, scroll down to see pictures and write ups on the wonderful FSC, FEN & FA BSC contenders.

Look for the FLU contender to be added in a few days as info becomes available.

Also, we have news about ItalianCarFest (ICF) preparations for the final round of the Best Spider Challenge (BSC):

1) The glass trophy for the BSC has arrived from world famous Blenko Glass Co. As soon as the trophy is engraved we will get a picture of it posted at the page above.

2) We are offering an exciting new way for visitors to see ItalianCarFest's Show by the Lake this September. It is called the ICF Covered Tour & Lunch. From the vantage point of a covered, motorized cart, visitors can see the show in elegant comfort and afterward enjoy a catered lunch aboard the Lonestar Lady overlooking the colorful activities on the show field. They'll meet all the principals of ICF and as a special treat, from Italy, our Special Guest from famed automaker Lamborghini. This is an extra cost item at $175 per couple. (Go to http://www.italiancarfest.com/tour.htm for details.)

We have elected to include the ICF Covered Tour & Lunch as a bonus for the owners of the BSC cars. We are excited they are coming to ICF and we hope to make their stay a memorable one.

Thanks guys. I was shocked to have been chosen for such a prestigious award and I hope I can represent our club in a deserving manner. I've got a lot to do to get it ready, including trying to figure out how to get it there with two kids, but I have kidnapped Alvon Elrod and he is locked in the garage with the Fiat and tools as I write this. I will check his progress, and if he gets the long list of things done by lunch, I'll let him out and feed him. 8) I'll keep you posted on his progress! :D

I'd be very careful about feeding him; you should keep him in a weakened condition otherwise he may become sarcastic and beligerent

I took your advice, Mark, and kept him in a weakened state. Two more studs were broken in the process. He sure is stronger than he looks! He wasn't in too bad of shape when I released him to his daughter in Mooresville, so maybe he'll forgive me.
I do want to thank Alvon for his patience and dilegence. It sure is a lot more fun working on a Fiat with a buddy! :D

Be glad you missed it, Dave. I was so embarrassed I turned two shades of red. Then to top it all off, the long dress I was wearing got wrapped around my chair leg and I dragged it across the floor and almost tore the dress off from the waist down! They should have taken in consideration the owner as well as the car when they made their choice.

All BSC contender info is posted - Miss Texas to attend the

All the BSC info has been posted. Go to:
http://www.italiancarfest.com/bsc.htm

Thanks to all the clubs who have committed to the BSC to make this first-ever endeavor a reality.

And if you have a show-quality spider and would like to join in the fun, well, this is the 'Year of the Spider' so please sign up today at http://www.italiancarfest.com.

With a large turnout of spiders expected at ItalianCarFest, a stand alone class has been designated for FIAT 124-based spiders (FIAT 124 Sport Spider, Spider 2000 and Pininfarina Azzura). So if you aren't entered in the Best Spider Challenge (and only the 4 cars already chosen by Fiats of So. Cal., Fiat Enthusiasts Northwest, FIAT America and Fiat-Lancia Unlimited will be in the final round of the challenge) your spider will be in a good company as your car competes in the spider-only 'Best in Class: FIAT Spider' competition.

xxxxxxxx

Also, Miss Texas has graciously agreed to attend the elegant ICF Reception on Friday evening, Sept. 21, 2007. As we are expecting an extra large crowd of out-of-state participants this is especially exciting. Miss Texas will greet them and all ICF entrants.
Note: The reception is exclusive to ICF entrants and sponsors.

Thanks John. Now the big question: What should I wear when I meet Miss Texas?!

I'd suggest dressing for comfort. She ain't royalty yet, just a poser.

What to wear?

Post by ICF »

What to wear to the events at the Gaylord? Actually, this is a good question that we answer in a pre-weekend mailer to all ICF participants. Since we are expecting even more out-of-state participants as we build this extravaganza, here is a word or two:

The reception is held in an area called Mission Plaza. Here is a link to a picture: http://www.italiancarfest.com/images/Mission.jpg
Naturally, when the area is filled with two hundred enthusiasts and their guests, it has the look and feel of an elegant party.

Mission Plaza is in the Gaylord Texan Resort. The resort is quite a place. Here is a link to info about the hotel: http://www.alhi.com/GaylordTexan/

Anyway, the reception (and the dinner on Saturday) is a little dressy. We pride ourselves on putting on a classy weekend that attracts the finest in Italian cars, cycles and scooters, entertaining our entrants, drawing special guests from around the world and raising thousands of dollars for worthwhile charities.

And, friends, as with all things native to the Lone Star State, Miss Texas is first class.
