Muffler choices
Muffler choices
I am using my Fiat as a daily driver right now and enjoying it hugely - until the muffler went yesterday. Apparently it came off back of the resonator. She sounds lovely without the tailpipe but alas I must replace it. I've been promising myself an upgrade for years on the system. I go through the regular mufflers every couple of years. Any recommendations?
I see three options on the IAP website, and I found the funimported.com website with a stainless steel muffler. I don't expect it to last forever, but I sure would like it to sound sweet!
Thanks in advance for you help!

Re: Muffler choices
You could get a Magnaflow Muffler. SoCal Mark might sell them. http://www.allisonsautomotive.com/
This is what it would sound like.

Re: Muffler choices
Geeze, I just looked up Marks location. I used to live in Glendale CA just down the road!
Re: Muffler choices
I put a Fun Imports on this past fall. Went on easy. Great sound looks great too. Bob
Re: Muffler choices
Well, I ended up putting on the standard muffler because I wasn't sure what bits to purchase and I couldn't afford the ANSA. I may end up changing it again because the muffler is on a 30 degree angle off level and the tailpipe is to the left of where it should be at the back bumper. I'm not happy with it but it will have to do for now. Next items on the shopping list are headlights, shocks (priority) and tires.

Re: Muffler choices
I have the stainless steel one from Fun Imported on my daily driver. It been on there for at least 5 years now and as a driver I have driven it in snow and salt during the winter in CT. For a while I just didn't care and was going to let the car rust away and then part it out. Bottom line is that I'm still driving the car and although the body has significant rust, there is none on the muffer.
Re: Muffler choices
Love the sound of my dual tip ansa, but I cant ever get it to stay hanging straight. Now that I have the bumpers off I really need to change the body back there too. Kinda wishing I had gone with the allisons one.
Re: Muffler choices
I´ve instaled last week my new exhaust and the difference was awesome. I´ve instaled a 4-2-1 stainless steel header, and eliminate the catalist and middle muffler. The final mufler is a dual tip ANSA, and the sound is nice, but no excessive.
As the exhaust flow is higher, I´ve modified also the intake with a K&N filter to compensate all. Now the car is faster, specialy from 3500 to 5500, and it gous up to 7000 when before he dies at 5700 rpm.
I will post some pictures!

Some pics of the new header
The cast iron original header
And the new "catalist", much more free flow.
