Hey, that's Molto Mario not Balto Bernie :D
My top is definitely the rounded one. The photo angle is directly on the corner; for better comparison, I probably should have shot along the windshield frame.

I'm sure you can get the lower price just call Greg at Germanex and tell him your on the Fiat forum.

Just ordered a new top from Greg at Germanex for my newly acquired 81 spider. Great guy , a pleasure to deal with.
Next I need to order a master cylinder as the brake pedal just goes right to the floor with no resistance ,and there is no sign of fluid leakage, and the reservoir is full. Wheels all seem to turn freely, so I'm thinking it's the master cylinder. Has anybody else had this problem, and was that the fix?.............Mark

Is this a new to you car? Have you tried bleeding your brakes and changing the fluid? Sounds like there's air in the system somewhere.

Yes the 81 spider is new to me, and I have not tried bleeding the brakes yet. I did order a new master cylinder and was about to pull the old one out. Anybody know a trick to getting the fittings off the master cylinder without rounding the nut heads?

I just bought a 79' spider and have a question about the top. Is there a liner on the inside that covers the hardware or is it just bare? If you have any pics that would be great. thx

the cheap tops have no liner
they do have strips that wrap around the bars with plastic covers that slide over the strips
as for the pricey ones i dont know
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

No tops for the spider have headliners. It wasn't designed that way, and you should be glad. I install tops with headliners t least once a month on old mercs or VWs and they are a PITA and add little to the looks of the car. Wasted money in my mind.

If you can, clamp vice grips onto the flare wrench to keep it from spreading.

I recently bought the Germanex vinyl top ($217.50) and I really like it. I had a local upholstery shop install it about 2 weeks ago. Thanks for the advice Craig (ga.spyder).
