Why are there Yahoo and Google Bots on here 24/7 anyone know ? what is there purppose ?

I think it's because they are searching for content on the site to ad to their indexes. If someone searches for "Pro rally by Scat" it would bring up this search result in Google.



If you search for "fiat spider" the first 2 results, after the images, are fiatspider.com and the third is Allison's Automotive. Pretty impressive to be number 3 out of over 2 million results. Way to go Mark.

Ok Makes sense but i don't see how it applies on this forum, if i do a search either its in here or not nothing outside
the archives seem to pop up ? I'm not very good with computers so i am sure you have some knowledge that i don't
but I'm sure Evan knows hehe ! I am just interested in knowing what they do for no good reason ...

If you do a search from within the forum it will only bring up results from within the forum. But let's say someone goes to Google and does a search for a topic related to Fiat in general, if that string of words has been used within the forum it will display that topic as one of the many search result on Google because Google bots have indexed all the articles with that string of keywords. When I was having problems with my Chevy pickup I went to Google and typed in my best guess about what the problem was. That brought up results that included a link to a Chevy forum post. I joined the forum, searched the forum for my specific symptoms and found the solution. If Google bots hadn't indexed the forum posts I never would have been led to the Chevy forum.
