I agree with Alvon about using the archive as a fundraiser. It wouldn't even have to be a CD it could be an electronic download. Just set it up with ClickBank and they handle all the transactions.

Re: FiatSpider.com Needs your help
My donation has also be sent. We may want to consider having a yearly fundraiser to give everyone an opportunity to chip in. I know the donate button is there, but many of us need to be reminded. It seems to work for Mirafiori.
A special thank you to Evan and Mark for their dedication. My donation is a small price to pay for all the support I've gotten and all the friends I've made over the years.

Done. It's so easy to become complacent and take this site for granted.
Members here have bailed me out more than once.
Thanks Evan.

Re: FiatSpider.com Needs your help
Evan,
Done.
I just found this forum a few weeks back, as I just bought my first Spider(s). As a total novice learning to fix cars, I couldn't imagine what I'd do without support sites such as this one and Mira. In fact, when this one was offline for a bit yesterday, a bit of panic set in, as I was thinking "How am I going to keep working on my project?"
Several years back, my wife and I started the local Shelby Cobra replica club...back when we had the funds to own such a car... We had a forum set up. It only had about 100 memebers and a tiny fraction of the traffic this one does. But I have a tiny idea (and I mean tiny, this site is much bigger) of what it takes to do what you are doing. I thank you for putting this together so people like us can learn and appreciate these cars.

Re: FiatSpider.com Needs your help
Donation made - as others have said - the money I've saved in mechanics bills and the stuff I've learned from the others on this site is priceless. I agree with Denise - Evan, you should set up an annual "pledge day" like PBS has to ensure we are all reminded that this thing costs money and needs our support.

Re: FiatSpider.com Needs your help
I agree with making an annual pledge day. Nothing wrong with doing it. I think lots of forums do it. Since it seems like right now is the pledge time for 2011, why not make the annual pledge day around April fools day every year? That's a date that's easy to remember....and besides, most of our wives/significant others think we're "fools" for dumping so much money, sweat and blood into these cars.

Re: FiatSpider.com Needs your help
All,
Thank you very much for all the help and kind words. I have never prompted a fund raising for this site until now, but given the fact that the site has grown so much and the direct costs along with it, I do think it's needed now. So consider this the official call for annual help. I also agree that the April time frame is as good as any to promote the cause.
Thanks to all of you that have donated recently and in the past 24hours or so, we're doing well. We're very close to getting half way to the minimum mark of what we need. In fact, with the donations made since yesterday I was able to, through paypal directly actually, pay the hosting company for the first six months of the contract. I am awaiting an estimate from their technical staff to tell me how much it's going to cost to have them assist me in moving all the files and database structure and then testing before we cut it over.
Please continue to spread the word for help, I'll keep you all posted.
Thanks again,
Evan
