Glove box latch

Does anyone have a detail to show how the glove box lock goes back together with the spring. Took mine apart to refinish the lid - can't get it to go back together.

Its all in that spring. One end of the spring has a squared hook, that end goes in the recess of the black latch. Now the other end is straight and it goes into a tiny hole in the barrel of the steel mechanisim. If it does not fit the spring might be upside down. Once it is together continue gently pushing the latch down onto the steel part while wiggling the thing back and forth. It will find its seat and then just put the flathead screw back in place.
Hope that makes sence.

I' m hoping to replicate that mysterious "awesome wood dash" that someone created... you know, the curvy one.

Looking for a solution so there is no visible glove latch... My brain is trying to tell me something with rare earth magnets, on a remote switch...

Cross fingers, will post pics if not ashamed of what I come up with!
Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.

a door lock solenoid and a discreet push button either unmarked on the dash panel with the other switches or just tucked under the dash and out of sight.

As for the exotic wood dash overlay, yes, I want to do that one too.

if you dont care if it locks. use a standard spring style magnetic cabinet door lock available from any hardware store.
