Seats, seats, and more seats and tires too

Post by Jimbo »

Took it out for the first drive of the season and soon realized I'm not a young kid any more and need something a bit more comfortable to rest my cheeks on. Is there a perferred "easy fit" after market seat that I can stick in there?

And tire recommendations? I'm partial to Goodyear but I'm open to anything but Bridgestone/Firestone (IMO they're junk).

It seems a vendor could do well with replacement seat/back cushions that offer more lateral/lumbar support and a gel pad inside.

I installed a seat from a first generation Mazda RX-7 to my drivers position.
It is very comfortable and only sits about 1" higher than stock.
The seat rails lined up perfect in the width, but I had to do a very little bit of dremel tool adjustment for the holes to line up lengthwise.
The passenger seat was not a priority at the time. And I found that due to the difference in the RX-7 floor pan on the passenger side, that seat will take a little custom work for the rails to fit.

How are your cushions on the bottom of the seats? They should be pretty firm. Maybe yours are worn out. If you need a good used set that are firm. I'll sell you a pair for $30 + shipping.

I'm very pleased with my Kumho tires, not too expensive and they're available in 13 inch.

Thanks - the padding is fine, the seats just aren't very comfortable (esp on long drives).
