Never been on a ferry, never been across a big body of water. Both should be a hoot, since my daughter and I are going to take my '80 Spider across Lake Michigan next month on the Muskegon Ferry. We will be landing in Milwaukee (another first for me).

Now, we need to find some things to do between lunch time and supper time...between Milwaukee and Streamwood Illinois.

Any suggestions?

We are staying overnight in Streamwood with a good friend, and fellow Fiater Lee. Lee is a WEST MICHIGAN FLU member, and the recently proud new owner of an '83 Spider. Lee has promised to find us some good, live Blues Music and some deep dish pizza.

Your planned trip sounds like it will be fun. A ferry boat ride is always nice and relaxing unless you have two small children, then it can be extremely nerve wrecking! A few years ago, I took the kids to Myrtle Beach for a week, then decided to visit my Aunt in Cape Hatteras. The only way to access the outer banks was by Ferry. I can't remember if it was a 2 hour ferry ride or an 8 hour one, but I'm leaning towards 8 hours! When I got to Okracoke, I found we had another ferry ride to Cape Hatteras! Thankfully, my two minions fell asleep waiting for that one.

Years ago, i took three...all at once....on a fishing trip in a 14' 7hp fishing boat.

it took 2 solid hours to get the 15 minutes from home to the dock. Once in the water, which took another 30 minutes, we set off.

five minutes after setting anchor, the youngest was ready to go home, the oldest had to pee, and the middle one dropped her pole in the water.

When fishing with 5-10 year olds, bring along two adults per child, and a potty chair.
