This morning I got my new front and rear EBC slotted rotors and green pads from Mark Allison Automotive along with the brake compensator bypass. Installed them and test drove this afternoon. What a difference over the stock equipment. Even though they are not bedded in, I see a vast improvement with no more squeaks or other strange noises that I used to get. Highly recommend you get a set from him.
Tomorrow I go pick up my Auto rear end.... yeah baby!

Re: Drastically Improved Brakes
Jim,
Be carefull when bedding in the EBC pads as they have a special coating that helps brake them in. The braking power will drop off after this coating is gone, about 100 miles or so. They do work great but I did not like the black dust from them.

Re: Drastically Improved Brakes
Eliminating the compensator by itself goes a long way I think. I drove mine for around a year with apparently no rear brakes lol
1978 Spyder 1800 make that 2L! Finally making real progress!
Re: Drastically Improved Brakes
Good input....... One thing I forgot to mention is when installing the front pads they had anti squeal shims on all four pads. I could not fit the caliper over them and I had compressed the piston back all the way. The caliper body was a shade to narrow. So I removed the outer shims on each brake side leaving the inner shims on the piston side. Was still a tight fit. I think this is due to the extra thickness of the wear coating. Still works good with no squeal. I was also able to install the anti rattle clips with no problems that I read some people could not fit?

Yeah gotta love the EBC's, I had them installed up front with slotted rotors and now I just got a pair of rebuilt rear calipers/rotors/EBC pads and braided stainless steel brake lines all around which should make things even tighter.
