A $30,000+ Spider?
A $30,000+ Spider?
On March 22 there will be an auction of 50 of some of the finest collector cars in New Zealand. Included in the sale is a 1963 Ferrari Lusso that will sell for more than $750,000. Also included in the sale is a 1984 Spider Volmex with an auction estimate of from $28,000 to 38,000 USD. Take a look at it here:

It sure is pretty. Doesn't it just sit just right? Imagine what it would look like with small bumpers.
They will be happy to accept your internet bid if you are interested.

Nice! But I think $30k is a stretch when the Abarth spiders aren't even getting that. You never know though. Fools and money.

Take a look at the Lusso. Wouldn't mind that one parked in my garage.

I was looking at a early 70's spider for sale and it looked AMAZING! So I called the guy restoration garage up, the one that was selling it, and I was expecting a higher price... To my surprise the guy told me it was 33, 000 $ !!! Haha I was not expecting that price, but like the car going to auction, it must be something special!

500 made...European release only. Pretty amazing performance considering the era.
To me though it just has to be fun to drive...and this one really is fun, and the sound is really cool.

Jim that car looks absolutely perfect, any chance a ferry ride to N. Van on fathers day or am I going to have to come over and have a look-see (I'll bring the Guiness). Come to think about it, a ferry would scare the living s... out of me with that car,the way they can pack them in there. If I can catch up to Launie, perhaps a trip down Island can be made.

Re: A $30,000+ Spider?
Thanks for the comments. I just might try to make it over for Father day celebrations. I've taken cars over to shows and runs on the ferry in the past and I always ask to be put on the truck deck. Then there is lots of room. The only problem with driving in Vancouver is the cops there are cranky about not having a front plate...and too often I don't have one.narfire wrote:Jim that car looks absolutely perfect, any chance a ferry ride to N. If you ever make it over here we should hook up. I need to know in advance though because my work keep me too busy....at least until sept when I am hoping to actually be retired by then. The last time I tried I was given a raise and told to go golfing to think about it
Cheers,
Jim

And here's an Abarth for sale http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/cla ... arno/69794. My guess is that the asking price is around 40 to 50' Euros, which today is at least 60' USD. They don't come cheap nowadays...

Hi all,
Considering I did all the work on mine. I figure I'll have about 13-14,000 invested. Though I have all the bells and whistles on it. Now the question is... what was my time worth?
