Swapping tach and speedo

Is there a blow-by-blow description of how to replace the 80mph speedo and tach with the older recessed 140mph speedo and accompanying tach?

pretty direct swap unless the speedo ends are different

Um, doesn't seem to be. The old ones are deeper, and they don't have the warning lights that the newer ones do? I have the cable for the older speedo, it's different from the stock cable...
