Restored wheels

Post by mdrburchette »

Just wanted to show you guys my newly restored wheels. These are the CD30s I picked up in Florida last year. I had them powdercoated at a local shop but I wasn't happy with the results, so I took them to another guy who sanded out the imperfectons, powdercoated them with silver and clear. I'm really pleased with them now!

Wow, I noticed that I really need to work on those calipers.

Are they originals (magnesium) or aftemarket alloy (aluminum) ? The look great...the rims, not the calipers.

Your wheels turned out very nice. Makes me want to have mine re-done. Did you go with the 205-60s?

They are the original CD-30 Abarth Cromadora magnesium wheels. They measure 5.5 x 13 so 185/60/13s fit just right. It's on the X19 so you don't have much room for anything wider. In fact, these scrub a little when locking the steering wheel a full left or right. I knew this before I bought them though. I figured something will eventually wear down. 8)
I'll get pics of the whole car today. This pic was taken at night with no lights. Came out pretty good with just a flash, didn't it?

That's the problem with really nice wheels - you start to notice all the other cosmetic imperfections that you were able to blissfully ignore before! They look good. Nice work.

Clean them up a bit and put some red krinkle on them. Then I'm sure you'll see something else to do, and then something else, and then something else......
