It's alive!!
It's alive!!
Got the '79 Spider I just bought running for the first time in 5 years tonight! Out with the old gas, in with the new, new battery and fired right up!
Re: It's alive!!
congrats, I hope you changed the oil also, and how's the timing belt?
Re: It's alive!!
Oil is done and t-belt is getting done this week before I drive it. It's got 68k, and hasn't had a belt in 30k+ miles and 25+ years. I'm going to replace all the other fluids too this week. Lucky for me, during the day I'm an ASE Master Tech and pro VW/Audi tech, so this is just fun times!

As an ASE tech, you'll be pleased to know that I've found the CAN connector on my Spider
(I can fix this, I can fix this ...)
Love those old Galaxies; front doors are, what? six feet long? Is yours the one with the wraparound C-pillar? Hidden headlights?

Yeah, pretty close to six feet.

My first drive was a 1963 Ford Galaxy 500 XL two door. I could lay down in the back seat with my head touching the side panel and my feet didn't touch the other side panel. I'm 5'9" tall! When camping, I slept in the back seat very comfortably. Gotta love the old Galaxys!

Re: It's alive!!
My dad would take me driving in his '66 Galaxie 500 every Sunday afternoon - I was 8 yrs old and would sit in his lap and watch the speedometer for him as we hit 120mph. I would "drive" and once we hit 120 we would turn around and do it again the other way. It was a county highway that had the old dual speed limit signs - 75 day/ 65 night. Wished I could find one of those signs.....
I have been looking for a Galaxie for years. Either their priced for auction, or junk buckets.
I have this old B&W pic that I will try to scan.....my dad always had muscle cars - but sadly he was gone before I turned 11.
