I've got a '79 but have the advantage of being able to remove the smog stuff, unlike you poor souls in CA. With the right mods, you can get all sorts of power out of the 2L. If you can't make those mods, then you're lucky to get over 20 anywhere :o I've stripped off the smog stuff, changed intake manafold to single plane, carb to 32/36 DFEV, high compression pistons, intake cam, oversized valves, ceramic coated header, etc. Duel 40 IDFs would do a little better, but the difference between here and stock is amazing. The other nice thing about the 2L is there are a lot of parts still available that may not be available with some of the other engine options. I had a '73 spider with the 1592 engine, but that is a rare bird, it was only in spiders the end of '73 and a few '74s, right before the 1756 came out. I decided it was just too dificult to get parts and went with the '79.

Oh, and having had both small attractive but useless bumpers and large less attractive but marginally usefull bumpers, I kind of like the fact that a light tap won't damage anything. You don't dare paralell park the small bumper cars.

Hey Roy, dont ya love it, us Fiat guys do have other hobbies, I used to race the Q 500 but I am afraid my reflexes are not up to par with the current younger pilots at my field. I am happy to get it up and prance around then make that ever so sweet landing (when that happens ha!)

I guess that's what this is all about, that warm fuzzy feeling you get.
I remember when I was a kid travelling in my uncles british racing green 132 that had a massive sliding sunroof. It would be stinking hot and we'd always go to Cronulla Beach ( A beach in Southern Sydney).
I miss those days.
Yes, I agree, I am in the remembering mode and am liking it. trouble is makes me want to get some more mementos collected!

i mentioned that my mother had 850 spider, and here it is, sitting in the driveway of our house in Ojana, Okinawa, in April, 1969. It's a really small polaroid photograph, and is pretty clear considering its over 40 years old.

I might have to dig up some old pics with may father with his 125 from the 70's. I can remember mutton chops, flares and a poorly designed shirt...but is my memory...
Just goes to show, don't rip up those old pics of the cars you use to own......
